Flintstone Feet

I couldn't find a pair of shoes to fit Ben so in desperation I went to Stride Rite and explained my situation. The girl helping us measures him and says, "Oh" like she's about to diagnose something, "that's because he wears an 8 Extra Wide."
"Really" I say, "and where can I find an Extra Wide?
"Here."
"Well yeah, but where else?"
"No, just here." she says.

Just to put this into perspective Keely is 5 and wears a size 10, and she has pretty big feet for a girl. The boy is only 18 months! Great, so Stride Rite it is. Until he grows out of kid sizes that is and then we'll probably have to special order them. Here are the only 2 pics I could find that have good images of Ben's feet. Kind of makes him all the more lovable though (except when he steps on me with his monstrous shoes!). : )

Our Isaac boy has the same problem.
And sadly so does one of my younger sisters. My 40 year old brother still teases her and yells, "Stop the car Connie!!!!" It's hilarious!
I guess you can be grateful that he's a boy at least:-)

So funny! You remember my little twin cousins?? They had feet just like that and I remember my aunt always complaining about having to buy their shoes at stride rite! I think those little/big feet are darling!

My friend's little boy also has Flintstone feet and she's been able to find shoes that fit him at PayLess. I don't know how wide they go, but if you haven't already tried there, it might be worth looking. Otherwise, Stride Right it is! :D

I would check out Footprints downtown Ann Arbor on Main St. They carry alot of European shoes which might be wider. Try Keens, Birks, Elephontan, etc.

We should start a store called Ben's Big and Tall. Just for kids his size. Looks like we have a few more boys in the ward who will follow in his footsteps (no pun intended!)...and that is why you are friends with me, I am so funny. :)

Wow, an 8 EXTRA WIDE! This guy is going to be towering over you and Shawn soon. Lars barely wears a 6. Maili wears a size 11 (she's 4) which I didn't think was too big, but I guess it is??

That is too funny, Ez has a similar issue, but he's no extra wide, just wide. Happy Shoe shopping!

We have to get a better picture so the people can see just how flinstonesque they really are. Let's put Shauri up to the challenge.

Wow! Those pictures really do tell the story:) I'm at least glad you found one store that will keep his little, wide feet warm during the winter!

I watched the Michigan football game this weekend and missed living there! I miss Sacramento, but let's be honest I REALLY miss Michigan. Love your kids, your blogs, and your house! I wish I had a friend to help me decorate. I love your style.

Way to go big guy! Of course Stride Rite sells the most expensive shoes around. Have fun!

He is going to be a big man. I can't believe how fast he is growing up. If it wasn't for the blogs, we probably wouldn't recognize him when we get home.

Ummm, beat double extra wide. That was what Jackson had to deal with.

We have the same problem with Andres. He wears bigger shoes than Javi! Someone told us that they have this problem and get Stride Rites on eBay for a much better price. (I haven't looked yet, but she said they have stuff the stores don't have too.)
